Just curious if anyone knows. I’m actually looking forward to it. I must be one of the very few that actually believes that Genesis will be serious contenders in the years to come.
Genesis EQ900 for your time.

I still am curious what they're going to call the cars. Maybe the Genesis Coupe will just stay the Coupe.

i give them a year

Nah, it’ll get some awful alphanumeric designation that won’t mean anything and that we’ll always forget and call it “the car that used to be the Genesis Coupe” instead.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they pick up Infiniti’s ‘Gxx’ nomenclature.

That part I don’t know. But I’m confident once people stop thinking as the Hyundai Equus as the Hyundai Accents big brother it will start selling much better.
In the same way that the Cadillac Escalade is not the Chevy Sparks big brother. The Equus is NO longer going to the thought of as just another Hyundai.

Give them a year for what?

For the brand to actually hit showrooms (or their own showrooms).

I hope the Gen Coupe stays a Hyundai and becomes smaller, lighter, and cheaper. We don’t need another luxo-GT, there’s hundreds of them out there. We need a lightweight sports car, but making it a Genesis would mean adding gadgets and weight.

I thought it was 2017. Makes sense given the advanced state the Equus replacement is in.

Damn! Looks good!

G90 for the EQ900/Equus
G80 for the current Genesis Sedan
G70 for the compact sedan
My guess is the upcoming coupe will be like the Lexus RC. Too heavy to rival 4-series, too small to rival 6-series. So G80 Coupe?

Bring back the SCOUPE name, Hyundai!

Now you’re thinking with your dipstick!

Would sound about right.

I was actually thinking the opposite. Keep the coupe at it’s current price point and sort of have that as the entry level model of the Genesis brand.

If we have two Genesis cars parked next to each other, can we refer to them as ‘two Genesii’?

Why? It is a 2 door GT. No one else has a GT as their entry level car, except maybe Jaguar. But that’s not what they are going for. They are trying to compete with BMW, Mercedes, Lexus. Their entry level would need to be a compact 4 door sedan.

But why? Just because the only way Mercedes/BMW can afford to make a sub 30K car is by making a compact sedan doesn’t mean that’s the only way to do it.
In the current line up The Genesis coupe is their least expensive offering followed by the Genesis sedan and finally with the Equus.
I don’t expect them to come out with a whole new car to fill in that entry level spot in the next 2 years.

Even if the coupe goes with the Genesis brand, it won’t be the entry level car. It will end up probably off to the side like the Z4 is for BMW. Genesis can offer the Genesis sedan as the 5 series and name it something without numbers hopefully. Equus for the 7 series. 3 series can come out later.
